Woodland

Cammo’s woodland can be found in the upper half of the park. It contains lots of big, old trees which provide nest sites for many birds. You can find jays, buzzards, tawny owls, sparrow hawks and lots of song birds here.

There are also areas of smaller trees and shrubs. These fill up with warblers and other migrating birds in the spring.

Other woodland inhabitants include badgers, foxes, weasels, stoats and bats.

Throughout the woodland, the Friends have built piles of logs and hedge clippings. These quickly become home to frogs, toads and mice, which provide food for the birds and other animals. Find out more about our Deadwood project here.
